I am running 98se , 40 gig hd , AMD xp 2100 processor, 512 ddr ram . I have the hard drive partitioned in two equal parts . Can I put another OS on the second partition and will it work if of course its installed correct? Thank You

And the beauty of it is if you do XP it will see the other OS and set the boot loader up for you. I think W2K will do the same but I don't have any personal experience with it.

Just keep in mind that programs have to be loaded to each OS to run. Example if you use Quicken now, the new OS won't run it until you also load it on the new OS.

Thats great Thanks One other thing I have some files on the second partition will I have to move them until I get it set up or can I leave them there??

You can leave them there if you are not going to reformat that partition. The installer program won't delete the data already on the partition unless you select the format option.

Remember to install old OS to new OS. Example, install WIN 98 first and then XP. Unless you want XP to eat up the MBR when you install XP first. But HPPRO wrote a tutorial on that. So check in the "Tips" sections about it.

Also remember that win98 is in FAT32, so it won't read NTFS. If you want to be able to read the XP partition, you can format it in FAT32.

First of all thanks to all for the input. I installed Win 2000 on my second partition and its up and running . by the way it looks I wish I had installed it long ago . How do I toggle from one OS to the other without restarting? If I can get that set I'll be in great shape .
