Everytime I startup my computer I keep getting this message:
"The system could not log you on.Make sure your user name and domain are correct, then type your password again.Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case."
The user name in the bracket was greyed out with the "administor"and also the password underneath. I've to press Alt+Tab to get into this screen sometime coz it stopped loading in the "windows is startingup screen".
After pressing ok I was brought to another login screen..
The question is how to get rid of this message upon startup.
I tried remove the account in the user account but it still appear upon startup.
Before XP I was running ME and I upgraded to XP from ME...
What could cause this? Can anyone help me here?:(

Are you the member of a domain? Did you type it out correctly?
The issue sounds like a corrupt SAM (security accounts manager) and you will have to repair it. The repair console might do it, or you might need to boot to an alternate installation of XP.

Thanx for the input, but I didn't own a domain name and I'm not a member of any domain whatsoever coz this is just a single computer ...
This problem exist since I upgrade to XP from ME.
If it is true that it was cause by a corrupted SAM,How can I fix it with the repair console?where can I find it?

Try going to right click my computer then manage. I believe in the users section you need to set password never expires. Hope this helps.

What about installing TweakUI and enabling autologon? You would then be able to reset the username and Password.
Or alternatively, from an Administrator account, click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2. Remove the check mark from "Users must enter a username and password" and click Apply. From there, follow the instructions.
This is assuming that the SAM is not corrupted.
If all else fails, then try booting from the XP CD and doing a Repair (overlay) install. Don't choose the Recovery Console option. Select the first option, and once your present install of XP is displayed, press "R" to start the repair.
A point to note is that XP works much better with a "clean" install rather than an upgrade install from Win9x.
However, the Repair install is useful.

Yes,
You'll have to reinstall any SPs again. An overlay install doesn't affect your data, but system files will be replaced.
TweakUI is a tweaking program by Microsoft for use with Windows. You can read all about it and download it here:
