What kind of heatsink is it? If its retail, I think it will work.

Most likely, No it won't work. At Newegg on my other broswer window, the PIB (Retail) version of the 2600+ with HS/fan combo and 3 year warrantee is Only $6 more than the OEM version Without the HS/fan combo and only a 30 day warranty.

does the bus speed make any difference to the heatsink? i need the one with the 266 bus, also, why will it not work? do 2600+s run hotter or something?

nevermind the 2600+, im probably going to get a 2400+, so if i get that, will the heatsink work?

Again, in the link above, the 2400+ PIB (retail) with the 3 year warrantee and included HS/fan combo is only $5 more than the 2400+ OEM with no HS/fan combo and only a 30 day warrantee.
For $5 more, I'd go with the PIB version.

The HSF will most likely work, but for $5 more, you are getting yourself almost 3 years more warranty. I would say that it is worth it based just on that fact.
Why use a cheap heatsink when you can get the retail unit for so little less? Sell the old heatsink with the processor.
