think pink

I've just e-mailed ATI so I can rma my 9500pro.
Earlier this evening my monitor was, without warning, suddenly displaying various shades of pink with tateful green accents.
Yikes !
It's the sort of moment that proves you're about to be replacing something.
In this case it turned out to be the video card, the monitor is just fine now that I've swapped back my 32mb Radeon.
The question is "How come ?"
What went wrong with the card?:confused:

What? The 9500 is an awesome card. It sucks you have to rma it.

I would actually suspect that it something simple like one of the pins on the output not making proper contact with the monitor cable.

I can certainly try the card again before sending it off to ATI .
I'll try again and post back the results.

No problem.... I know this cuz I have some cheap KVM cables on my bench machine at work and often get the exact same results... snug things up a bit and everything is ok.

before i was the tech guy at my company there was a monitor that would often go green or yellow for no reason. my predecesor was first going to reinstall windows, and if that didn't work, replace the entire computer. i simply suggested he jiggle the cable and make sure it was tight. needless to say, i feel i'm doing a much better job than him.
