How do I convert wave to mp3 files ?

I have windows media player and sony's b clip's and b recorder programs.

Most burning programs such as Nero will automatically convert your audio files. For a free stanalone converter you can't beat CDex.

Also music match jukebox, very easy to use interface, and converts wav mp3 and even mp3 pro.

I personally think just about anything is better than windows media player. I myself use winamp3 for all media, but music match jukebox for converting files.
