I have now stealthed my mouse...

hi, I steathed my optical mouse by placing it upside down into the keyboard tray flush with the tray,
I then placed a piece of etched acrylic on top, with the pad I choose it just moves around like normal to activate left and right functions I simply push on the side I want.
I went and reversed the mouse buttons through windows mouse settings.
the top pad can be any shape, I just used this for testing...
no wires, no mouse. here's a pic

it works as good as before or better.

I'm not understanding how it works from your description, do you have another piece that you move across the top of the LED?

Be careful with that configuration as the laser can damage your eyes. Can you explain further how you use the mouse buttons?

It's a low powered diode, not quite a laser, even though it emits only a narrow bandwidth of light, will not harm the eye.

I personally like the idea and the mod. The concept of stealthing the mouse was quite original ;)
