Has anyone gotten InCD packet writing software to work?
I understand you must first format a CD RW disk. Everytime I try this, I get an error message after the burner churns away for about 10 or 15 minutes and the disk ejects. I don't recall the exact wording of the error message.
Both my son and I have the same problem; I have a LiteOn 24X burner and he has a LiteOn 48X burner; he's using Win2000 Pro and I'm on XP Pro. Neither of us can get past formatting the CD.
What are we doing wrong?

What version of InCD do you have? I was having similar problems after I upgraded from Win98 to XP. My a: floppy drive also became inaccessible around the same time (not sure when exactly as I don't use it that much). Downloading the newest version from http://www.nero.com/en/download/incd-prog.html#download solved the floppy issue and it eems to be working fine with my CDRW drive (TDK VeloCD 16/10/40X) as well. I don't know too much about this area, but if that doesn't work I'd suggest trying a different brand of CD-RW media. Hope this helps.
if you post the exact error message it would be easier to help....

Hi Ron,
I know my we are using InCD on my dad's system. He has a Plextor 12x Burner and is using win2k. Have you tried different media? HTH

The InCD version is 2.30.1
I bought a 5 pack of Memorex CD RW's and they were'nt exactly cheap. I've tried 3 different disks and get the same message every time. I'll get more info on the message later.

You might want to consider upgrading to see whether that fixes your problems.. From the link greg20 posted it appears that the latest version is 4.xx. HTH
That version is ancient. Upgrade both Nero and InCD.

OK, I updated the InCD, tossed the Memorex CD RW's that gave me the error message, and now it works. I finally formatted a new CD RW.
Question: any chance in reviving the prior 2 CD RW's that produced the error message under the old ver of InCD? I can't seem to format them, even with the new version of InCD.

You can chuck those 2 cd's into file 13

Have you tried doing a full physical data erasure using Nero?

pillainp,
No, I haven't tried that, but I will.
Also, I'm now having another problem; the CD won't eject from InCD. I've tried going into "My Computer" and right-clicking on the drive, selecting "Eject", and still no ejection.

My experience with IN CD over the past 2 years has not been good at all. Everybody bashed Roxio but Direct CD is in my opinion (been using it since 1997 (ver 2.2 to 6) a far better program. can use CDR & CDRW
also
Memorex CDRW are generally regarded as terrible
the best ones are:
Verbatim, Sony, Ricoh, LG
If InCD isn't working well for you, cough up $20 and get NTI FileCD. This one can format to both UDF and ISO.
