Graphics trouble please help!!!

I just bought a Geforce 2 MX 400 64mb with tv out to upgrade my old riva 64 i installed the card fine booted up the pc worked ok so far, it said Geforce 2 Nvidia etc then when it came to loading windows ME i saw the windows Me screen then it just stopped loading!
I rebooted, tied again but to no avail.
So i booted into safe mode worked fine!!!
I have just changed my card back to the original and now windows is working perfectly!?!

Somebody help!! i need my new card to play counter strike with better graphics!

MY system:

windows ME
k7VZA
800mhz Duron
256mb RAM
26.4GB harddrives

Did you try the latest drivers from NVidia?

Are the chipset drivers up to date?

I didnt get any drivers with the card as i bought it OEM even if i did i cant load them coz windows won't load!!!

You have to uninstall the old card's drivers first and change to the standard VGA display before shutting down to put the new card in.

Even when buying OEM you still get the driver CD unless the store is pretty cheap. goto www.nvidia.com and get the latest drivers http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=win9x_44.03

I bought it OEM second hand! Sorry should have put that!! i will download the drivers
