If U want both you'll have to have 2 partitions on that harddrive or a second harddrive with one OS on each, and if on seperate partitions on the same drive then you probably need a 3rd party software program to create the dual boot capabilitiy for U. If your trying to back down to W95 and erase W98 then just reformat the harddrive and install W95...

Oh, sorry there I didn't read close enough, but it should work fine as almost anything that was listed as Win95 compatable works just fine on Win98, So in light of that, could you give some more details like PC specs, and what program are U trying to install??

Is it a dos program?? If so, exit to dos and install it, if not dos program, I would boot into safe mode and try installing it...

Go to your Windows/Temp directory and delete EVERYTHING in the directory then try to install the program.

What is virtual memory?

That is the setting used by windows for swapfiling, which is setting aside space on the harddrive to use as memory, and even though U have 256M, which should be quite adequate for WIN98, it still swapfiles. The settings are found, by right clicking MyComputer>then properties, and the performance tab then U'll see a box at the bottom for virtual memory. Clicking on it will bring up your settings, although I doubt that is the problem as you probably have never touched them and it is probably set at default which is to let windows manage the size. Sure seems like the temp file thing should have worked. C:\>WINDOWS\TEMP --- clean this folder out completely...

Hey Ther SLIDEWAYZS:
I had another thought about your problem, where did U get the program from that U are trying to load?? If U downloaded it, then I bet it is a corrupt download, or there is something wrong with that floppy disk U are trying to load that program from. Floppies are known for that especially if they have been sitting aroung for a long time. Reading Your specs, I don't think it is a problem with your PC because U have enough memory, and plenty of free space on your harddrive. I'll just bet it's a problem with the floppy itself, try loading it on another PC to find out...
EDIT: OK, I see you have already ruled out bad floppy by loading it on another PC, but how about copying the whole floppy to your harddrive, and run installation from your harddrive??

I tryed copying it to the HDD and it still would not install. I tryed several time after emptying the temp folder and it didnt work. I am sure the I had completly empty even the hidden ones. Thanks for all of your help. Any more ideas? THIS SUCKS!!!!

When I had 98SE, I ran into problems downloading programs quite often when too many other programs were running in the back ground. I used to ctrl-alt-del to show what was running and shut down everything but systray and explorer. The one program that really caused problems was McAfee AntiVirus. Like so many on these forums have said, don't ever put McAV on your system. Don't know if this will help, but it's worth a try. Good luck, Slidewayz
Have you tried downloading it again to install from a fresh download? I've had a few floppies work fine in XP only to be worthless 2 minutes later when I try them on the 98 system. I have no idea why, I only know it happens.
If you download it again (you can get ithere (http://www.turbostats.com/download.htm) in case you've lost the URL) be sure to get "winpro32.exe" and not the 16-bit version, "winpro.exe."

I have tryed to install it after shuting everything down except explorer and now i have tryed to install it with only explorer and systray running and it still would not load. The problem with downloading it is that I have version 6.0 and all they have is 11.0 for download. I did download 11.0 and it installed but I cant register 11.0 with my 6.0 password and I dont want to buy 11.0. thanks for all of your help. Can anyone give me some more suggestions?
If you don't want to buy an upgrade, you may have to dedicate a Win95 computer to it - or XP and run it in compatibility mode.

Just for the heck of it, put that floppy back in your Win98 Machine and do a scandisk on it. Check the boxxs for thorough scan and fix all errors, and see if that produces anything...Also make sure write protect is off, but U may want to make a backup copy to another floppy, in case this one gets wiped....

Well, it sounds like one or more files on the floppy disk have been permanently corrupted. Try downloading the software from the Internet. It should be there somewhere.
