search window??

what happened to my search box? Can you guys help me get my search bar back? I was on some sites and bunch of windows popped up and I had to shut it down, when I rebooted I was taken to differant home page(nice but not family material)and when I clicked to open my search window it was gone and something else popped up on the main screen to search from! seems I have spyware somewhere. I checked the msconfig and showed a new webdialer which I disabled. how can I get rid of these things out of the registry? I have a copy of the systems mechanics software but no spyware software. thanks for the help..

Hi Toolman35,

Download and run both Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/) and SpybotSD (http://security.kolla.de/), it should find the ad/spyware and remove it.

Follow the instructions here (http://www.ntfaq.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=26805) to restore the original URL. I'm assuming you're using IE.

I tried this and see nothing in there. everything looks normal.(i guess). this searc engine that comes up is nothing bad it's just not what IE6 has.
