I just recently purchased a used system....whenever I turn it on it goes though the BIOS and then says:
Intel LanDesk Service Agent 0.99b. Copyright Intel 1997
Then it says:
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure Check Cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting LanDesk Service Agent
Can someone tell me why this system is not booting up to a DOS prompt or to Windows and what I can to do make it do so.
Thanks.
Go into the bios and reset the boot order to put the cd, floppy, and hard drive before the boot from network. If you still get it, try to boot from a floppy or a cd, the hard drive may be blank.

In trying to resolve this issue, I put the Windows boot disk in drive A and the Windows CD-Rom in the CD-Rom Drive and then turned the system on and it immediately started into reformat the HD. I allowed it to do so and when it finished reformatting, Windows started installing.
During the Windows installation there were several driver files that were not found...An Intel 9255xbased PCI Ethernet Adapter 10/100 device, An Chrystal PnP Audio Driver and a Joystick Driver. I skipped these files and the system then rebooted into Windows.
While rebooting these files were shown to have not been found: vnetsep.vxd, vnetbios.vxd, vredir.vxd and dfs.vxd then an error message box said unable to load dynamic link library msnp32.dll.
Then the system went into Windows.
Can you tell me what to do about the missing files the system is looking for?
I assume they are driver files...I am not familiar with the audio card, ethernet card, nor joystick function, they were already installed, (no diskettes accompanied the system) so I am not sure of the name brand nor do I know how to locate the driver files this system is seeking.
Any suggestions?

open the case and remove the network card and the sound card look at the sound card for modal no and tell us what it is
the network card can be discarded unless you have a network
if so post the modall no also and we will find drivers for you

I only see two network cards. I do not see a sound card. There is an open slot in the back of the computer that looks like there used to be a card in it.
I do see a tiny 1 x 2 inch card that has two "round holes" for plugs that look like speaker plugs, one is labeled "line in' and one has a line drawing of a speaker. This card has no model number or serial number and plugs directly to the motherboard. The only thing the motherboard says at the location where the card plugs in is "rear panel". The cord is grey, it has a 4 prong connector. The cord has a tag on it that lists the following information:
digital
P/N 17-04373-01
Rev.A01
Date 2698
Vendor Amphenol
36-24502-01-B01
Is there a way to keep the network cards installed just in case I decide to use them in the future or would it be best just to take them out until I wish to use them?
Also, my monitor is only showing maximum 16 colors. I have a video card..a Diamond Fire GL 1000 Pro. It has a Serial Number: 2982900001423 then a P/N 23130027-205 and it says fire 1K PRO AGP NLX 4+ T1. Do I need to load a driver for this card to get better graphics? If so, can you tell me where to find the driver?
Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

discard the network cards as a new card is cheep and faster if you ever get a network set up the sound and grafic drivers are neaded i think your computer is a compaq with built in sound and video do you have any modal numbers on the case or serial numbers so we can deturmin wich drivers you nead for the sound card the drivers for the vid card can be found hear http://beta.driverguide.com/beta/index.php you need to regester its free then do a basic search for Diamond Fire GL 1000 Pro, look down the list of drivers i found one on the second page download and install
