Re install Windows 98 / Fatal Exception & Hang uo

Trying to re insatll windows 98se on pc boot disc ok get to format c: comes up with bad command now but previous formated ok then went to D:/>setup started up then kept stopping and freezing and had to reboot a couple of times then a fateal exception occurred

After re booting windows was running but keeps getting fatal blue screens when trying to instal drivers

Now when i have tried to re format to start again it keeps saying bad command and do not know what tto do next

When you boot from a Win98 floppy, you have to switch to the D:\ drive to run the format command... if you're booting from a Win98 CD, you have to switch to the D:\WIN98 drive and directory.

Disable the on-board sound in the BIOS and do not reenable it until you have finished the Windows install.

Damn Jim.... I skipped right over reading that... must be picking up your old habits.... right... if it's overclocked... try dropping down to the factory specs... I'm willing to bet it will load fine.

Thanks got the setup working now gets to the plug and play and loading hardware etc and will now restart but when it does re start it asks do i want to boot from hard drive or cd rom

if i pick hard drive comes up with setup error and will now close

After initial setup, you boot from the hard drive.... Is your system overclocked as suspected? If so... have you dropped it back down.

No it is not overclocked havbe been in the bios and it says 500mhz left it alone

so when the pc re starts it comes up with this option then says do you want to boot to hard drive or cd rom i choose hardrive and then it comes up with a set up error and closes down

Previous to that it gets to 100% on the set up and then comes up with a fatel exeption in oe then something vxd

just cannot get it to work i have still got my scanner connected at the back which draws power from the pc and is usb could this have something to do with it

Go into BIOS setup, and disable anti-virus, aka "Trend ChipAway".
Set "PnP OS Installed" to NO.
Set "Reset configuration data" to YES.
Try again.
