Has anyone here tried to interconnect two buildings about 100m apart using Dlink's APs configured as bridges plus extender kit connecting each AP to an antenna? This stup would cost less than $1000 a super cheap campus wireless LAN.

Just want to know if this has been done to confirm its viability.

Thanks!

I've done it with Linksys AP's set to bridge mode, works pretty good. File transfers are a bit slow due to the 11mbs limit of 802.11b.

Was this building to building? i didn't know the Linksys APs can be connected to omni or directional antennas. How'd you do it?

You remove the rabbit ear antennas from the AP's, and use cables with the correct connectors to hook the antennas up to one of the antenna connectors - then switch the antennas from "diversity" to either "left only" or "right only" in the AP admin.

www.hyperlinktech.com can fix you up with what you need, even though they don't list Linksys. Drop them an e-mail.
