Problems downloading ISOs

I downloaded the three ISOs of Mandrake 9.1 in linuxiso.org and it seems only the first one downloaded properly.

The Disc 1 ISO is 666,176 KB. Disc 2 was 590,756 KB and the Disc 3 was 81 MB.

According to the Mozilla's Download Manager the files were:

Disc 1: 666,175 KB
Disc 2: 665,312 KB
Disc 3: 665,600 KB

I left the machine on downloading during the nite and in the morning when I got here it was finished and according to Mozilla the files downloaded fine.

Now, as I copied them over the network to my main PC (the one with the burner) I got those sizes I mentioned above. Seems that only the Disc 1 ISO downloaded properly.

What is happening?

In the linuxiso.org page there is a utility to check the ISOs were downloaded fine but it doesn't explain how to use the Windows version or how do I compare them?

Can anyone help me here, plz?

On the same page where you downloaded the ISO's, there should be a link to a file called md5.exe. Download it and store it in the same folder where you have your ISO files. Also, next to each file there should be a series of figures called the MD5 checksum. Copy those figures down for each file. Now in a command prompt, type:

md5 filename.iso

and press Enter.

You should get a message containing a series of numbers as a response. Compare those figures to the ones on the website. If they match, your file is valid. If they do not, the ISO has been corrupted and needs to be downloaded again.

I suggest you use FlashGet, an extremely good download manager, for these long downloads.

You are talking of the DOS version. Can I run that one in XP?

Does FlashGet has spyware?

Yes you can run the MD5 checker in XP from a command prompt.

Flashget does not contain any sort of spyware. All it has is a small banner ad across the top below the toolbar, in the unregistered version. The ad is just a link that points to the FlashGet home page.

That did the trick. The CD1 was fine and the CD2 was not. I even have the CD1 ISO burned as I type.

I still dunno why the files download bad even when Mozilla reports them downloaded fine. :confused:
