looking at my high cpu temps on idle and quite high system temps on idle as well and then looking towards an empty, clean peanut butter jar my siblings put on my desk for no reason, i had an idea. If I cut a hole in the side of my case directly above the cpu, and cutting the jar so it would fit in that hole and then placing a fan on top so it blows outside air directly onto the cpu, could that work or not?

You can add slot fans instead of making a hole on your case.

wait, are those the things that go into the pci slots? i;m not looking for those, unfortuanately. I mean directly outside air onto the cpu because it is cooler than the case air's temperature.

Yes there the ones that go in the pci slot.

What you're talking about has been done before, but it's still a good idea. Be careful how you duct, though, you don't want the duct to be too large; if it is your case will have poor airflow.

so how big should it be?

If you do the mod, make the duct the same diameter as your cpu hsf.
