hi. i'm in a small homenetwork with a server that distributes the internet and for firewall purpoces does ip masking.
my small home network has privateassigned ip's
when i try to log into the ftp server of my shool using leetch ftp this is the message i get
:
~ Login completed.
> CWD /pub/projects/bib_vub
< 250 CWD command successful.
> PWD
< 257 "/pub/projects/bib_vub" is current directory.
> PORT 192,168,1,5,17,38
< 500 Illegal PORT Command
~ Could not retrieve directory listing for "/pub/projects/bib_vub/"

i figure this has something to do with my private ip adress not matching the one of the server on the internet.
there's load of free software waiting for me on that server (student licences)
i am looking for a ftp client that can handle ipmasking, is there annything like that out there????

Have you tried WS_FTP from Ipswitch (http://www.ipswitch.com/)?

That's the program I use, there are two versions, Lite, and Pro (which is the one I use), both are outstanding pieces of kit when it comes to FTP and I find them both very easy to use.
Also, maybe it doesn't matter, but, Ws_ftp doesn't hide spyware on your computer either (at least, I'm not aware of it).

I've never used that client, but look in its preferences and options for PASV mode, try that.
