John Lennon (http://www.rockhall.com/hof/inductee.asp?id=143) is shot by a deranged assailant as he and Yoko return to the Dakota after a recording session. He is pronounced dead at Roosevelt Hospital.

This has been mentioned a lot in the English press during the last few days. What is interesting is that his son, Julian, has stated that Yoko Ono stifled the creativity of John Lennon. This I can well believe, as it has been long thought that Yoko was instrumental in the breakup of the Beatles.
btw. I can remember when the Beatles first record was played on BBC radio, on 'Pick of the Pops'. The DJ, Alan Freeman, announced them as 'The Four Beatles'. I didn't think much of them at the time; much prefering Lonnie Donegan.

and the inevitable 'loony' site, where the theory is put forward that Lennon was shot on the orders of Ronald Reagan

yeah, everybody hates that bitch yoko
although in her defense, I've heard that John's drop in creativity was more due to the fact he got rich. by the time he died, he spent most of his time managing his money. i don't know how true that is, but i heard that somewhere.
excuse me, i got to pirate Imagine off of Napster...

Early This week I watched a speical about that, The Man that Shot him got 20 year to Life. I take it that he could be paroled anytime. What do you expect from American Justice, we lock them up to protect them from US.

Personal, I think He should have been Hunged about 15 year ago...Ok, I just turned this in to a capital punshment topic...O-Boy..
Hey look, here is an example of a person that admits he did the crime...WE have proof beyond a resonible dumbt....
Why don't we just Put him to Death...
"I don't even deserve to be here," -- meaning alive -- while Lennon is dead, Chapman told the three-member panel on October 3.
"What I did was despicable," he said. "I don't feel it's up to me to ask to be let out."
He admits he is guilty, so there is no question about who did it.

Would those that advocate capital punishment be willing to carry out the executions themselves, even if it was a relative that was involved.
Perhaps the fairest, and most just way,is to allow the final sentence (execution or imprisonment) to be determined by the relatives of the murdered person.I think this does happen in some Islam countries.

i wouldn't have any problem with doing the job.
I believe that the state of Florida got hundreds of requests from people that wanted to throw the switch for Ted Bundy.

Ok, Yes I would. Like I said, I would give the person 2 to 5 years to make prepare themselves.
Then it is time to move on with out them.
Hey, sound Like I may kind of agree with some of the Islam countries on that one topic....
