I have added another Linux Machine to my home network. While my main Linux Machine acts as a file and printer server for my other (Windows) machines via Samba, I am having a difficult time understanding just how smb-client works, how to configure the network to do print sharing without jacking around with the printer settings. My network resides behind a router and every machine (including my server) is setup DCHP. Do I go static or what. Is there a good source of information concerning sharing information between Linux machines?

I am not sure I understand:
You network goes like this?
ISP
Router (using DHCP from ISP and providing DHCP for network)
Linux file & print server
everything else
I assume everything else is connected directly to the router?
I also assume the server has a dedicated connection to the router and that it provides it's server functions through the router?
let me know I may be able to help.
The official redHat docs have some fairly good info onsetting up smb. should apply to most distros.

I made some adjustments to the hosts file and got everything up and running. Thanks for the reply.
