This is a new federal list. Most state lists will remain independent of this, and you will have to sign up for this one as well.
...I'm on my way. :D

You may want to go here (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/donotcall/statelist.html) to see how your state's list will work with the national one, if your state has a list. Many states (like MN) will share their state list with the feds, meaning you won't have to sign up for the federal list if you are already on the state list.

My state is already passing a bill so that it's "do not call" list will mesh with the Feds.
So I don't have to sign up twice.
I just hang up on them...

They said on the News a bit ago, the Nation no call website has been getting over a thousand hits a second for the past 24 hours.... which probably explains why its backed up.... I haven't gotten my conf emails yet either.

Well, the telemarketers have always claimed that they had no wish to call people who don't want to be called ( So why did they file suit to stop the "do not call" registry ? ).
It seems so many people rushed to sign-up that they overwhelmed the server ( just one server ? ).
The FTC/FCC has ordered more servers and reminded everyone that they have all summer to sign up.
It's not lack of public participation that would endanger this program, it would be lack of enforcement.
