That's over $1.5/gig-- definitely not worth it until the price comes down IMHO.

Yep, but that's how it always has been.
All new things, like SATA now, are expensive, and over the time prices will come down.

Hopefully SATA will go the same way the CDRW drives went :) Expenive, cheaper, cheaper, cheaper, all while increasing in quality and speed :)

Well, actually this applies to all, not only CDRW drives. Look at the CPUs, graphics cards, NICs, sounds cards, DVD drives, etc.
Everything is expensive at the beginning ;)

Now all I need is someone who can afford a build with that drive !

In 1989 I bought a 157MB hard drive for $1316, that is $8,392.16 a GB. That was 5,174 times more a GB than you are paying for this drive now. High price is in the eye of the beholder. Dave

 Certainly pricey. I'll wait untill it drops down to $100 By that time, I be they'll have the SATA500 transfer rate they're talking about. :D

1985, 5mb hdd from rat shack, $2500, or was it $5000?
There are folks who paid almost $5000 for a 486 mobo, as well. Nice we have a price/performance inversion...

Scsi rules ok.
