a really special problem

hi, everybody

i have a really special problem. i surf the internet everyday and i mostly visit the same websites.
About 14 days ago it started. one of my favorite newssite didn't update anymore even they update every 30 minutes. I got for about one week the same Homepage! only, if i opened a column, there were the updated contents. i checked it on another computer and there it worked. after one week it started to get normal. but now i have the same problem again and even worse, two more websites have the same problem.
i tried antivirus, ad-aware, spybot etc.. i really have no idea what's the problem?
I have a pt4, os : win xp pro, ie 6.0 ( i tried it with opera and got the same result--- nytimes from last thursday )

Sounds like an ISP issue, they could be using caching proxy servers.

Did you try Tool -> Internet Options -> Settings -> Every visit to the page, on Internet Explorer.

I was thinking of that, but if Opera does it too, I think it's an upstream issue.

i talked to my isp. they told me, that it isn't a problem of the isp. they said to press Ctrl+F5 and it worked. but now i always have to do this if i want an update from the webpage.

What caused this problem? do you have any idea?

Your ISP is caching the web pages and do not want to admit it. This is why they are telling you to press CTRL-F5, this forces a full refresh when the page is cached by the ISP.

Did you try what bonzai said? There should be a way to force refresh automatically through your settings. Just like bonzai said, go to Internet Options >> Settings (under temporary internet files) >> (Check for newer versions of stored pages:) check "every visit to the page".

I don't believe that an ISP would have control over this, if so - please explain to me how they could (out of curiosity).

after surfing the web i always clean up all (cookies, temp. internet files, history etc.) .
blue krystal, the isp only told me to refresh with Ctrl+F5. they couldn't tell why this happen.they had no idea!?

i hope someone can solve this problem.
