Two drivers one wire?

The Soltek SL-75MRN-L Mobo I bought seems to have only one connection for the audio wire that comes from the CD-rom. I have both a CD-rom and DVD that I would like to install. How would I go about it short of adding an audio card? Does anyone sell a Y adapter or other sort of jumper to be able to install two laser optic devices?

If your board or a soundcard has an auxilliary (possibly labeled AUX) connector, plug the other cable into that. HTH

You don't even need that cable.

Just use digital sound, in device manager right click on the drive(s) and select properties, on the properties tab at the bottom make sure that the check box that reads, enable digital audio for this cdrom device is checked.

The *only* function of that cable is for playing audio CD's - are you going to be using more than one drive for listening to them?

Don't know. My son will use it the most and I know he likes to listen to his music on one optical device while playing his video games on another. I guess the CD-rom is where he listen to the music and the DVD for his sound? But then he would not be able to play a movie through the system and listen to it.

What is the digital sound that Kissfan was reffering to. Does that allow me to listen to the CD-rom and or DVD without the wire. Most folks I know and most computers I see for sale have two opitical drives. I can't believe that Soltek would leave you stuck with one.

I will look at the mobo manual for the digital sound and also for an AUX hook up.

Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
Click the + (plus sign) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click your CD-ROM drive, and then click Properties.
Click to clear the Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device check box, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit to close the Device Manager window.

Oops, Sorry Kissfan, you did post that also. I didn't mean to leave you out. Without checking, I thought Cricket was just expanding on what he said earlier. On second glance it I found that Cricket was expanding on what you said earlier. Sorry for the mix up. :)
