I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this or not. Maybe it should be in the network forum.

Anyway, ever since I installed my new Linksys router in my home network I can't get my PC-Cillin to update by clicking the UpDate button. The connection times out immidiately.

I had a similar problem with my HLSW, which is a tool to monitor game servers and such. I couldn't receive the server logs. I then had to go into my router and manually enter its port ranges and other things to get it to work.

I'm thinking I might have to do something simiular with PC-Cillin but I couldn't find anything on their website. So if anyone who uses PC-Cillin and have encountered a problem like this please help me out.

Sorry if I wasn't very clear, I'm not very knowledgeable in the networking area.

Thanks. ;)

all i can say is that i had problems as soon as i installed pc-cillin... i uninstalled it and have been happy ever since... there are plenty of other good firewall/anti-virus programs out there... imo...

good luck

yeah, the only reason I'm using it is b/c it came bundled w/my motherboard, so it was pretty much free...lol. I guess I can try reinstalling it. ;)

Thanks

yep... it came on cd packaged with my mobo also... i was in an installing craze when i put pc-cillin on my comp, but definitely had to back away from that one after i had too many glitches...

btw, your router may already have an automatic firewall (check the manual) so it may be causing conflicts with pc-cillin... and check under Device Manager (with most windows OS') and see if there are any conflicts listed there too...

I've been using PCC for ages now, and never had a problem with getting updates. What version of PCC are you using? The error could be caused because your version is too old and you need a new version. THere is a reference to the exact error in the help files at antivirus.com

A router (most commercial ones anyway) are automatic firewalls; and unless it is a UPnP it will not come up on your device manager, either way PCC like most every antivirus using HTTP ports to get its updates; which means that if your router is blocking out HTTP ports then you cant see this or any other webpage.
