View Full Version : Install Nero?

I'm in the process of building a new computer, running XP or maybe a 98SE/XP dual boot.

I just bought a new 52x CD burner that came with Nero Burning. Is there something Nero Burning does that Roxio 5 Platinium doesn't do? Or, vice versa?

Basically, I like the Spin Doctor in Roxio, which allows me to line rip and I have a LOT of jewel covers in Roxio format!

Maybe I'll install one to 98SE and the other to XP.

I prefer Roxio myself. Most on the Mech seem to prefer Nero.
I have them both installed on XP.

I've used both and prefer Nero. Used spin doctor for quite a while but couldn't clean up background noise. Found something different recently and really like it. check here:

What's the trick in installing them both?

I have them both installed on the same drive. I also have NTI installed. I do however have all of them set NOT to start with windows. They must be opened manually.

Since you can selectively install Nero, just load the burning program and not InCD. Or uninstall Direct CD if you want to try InCD. I had major lockup problems with both programs installed on an ME system.

I don't install or uninstall either one. I use a free program called StartupCop which prvents both from loading with windows. If i want to do a burn I select the program I want from my Start-All Programs menu.

Startup Cop's a good program. But lately I've been using Mike Lin's Startup Control and Startup Monitor.

But I guess I'll install both. But I'll use Direct CD. That's one program I like. Unfortunately, I've never had much luck with NTI.

When I get into burning VCDs, I'll see if there's a difference between the two. I want to rip out of print movies.
