I'm currently putting together a list of things to build my own video editing machine. I'm wondering where i can get some studio speakers that won't distort the sound but play it as it was recorded. Like most speakers add bass and so forth. Anyone who can mention a brand name would be a lot of help.

If you're going for proffesional sound, link a hi-fi up to a creative audigy 2, top of the line.

M-Audio makes excellent speakers for just that situation.

And the sound card as well, which will outperform any creative sound card handily.

You might also take a look at the Terratec DMX 6-Fire sound cards. Along with all of the studio-type options they also support DirectX and game surround sound and all of that stuff, whereas most other studio sound cards do not.

Don't limit yourself to an Audigy right away if you're shopping for a card, there are much better cards out there, even if they don't get much press ;).
