It's time for me to upgrade the old geforce 3, and while i'd love to get a 9800 pro, i don't have the cash flow.

so, the cards I'm looking at are the 9600pro, the 9500pro, and the fx5200 ultra.

which do you think would be my best bet. I'll be using it for gaming, but would like good 2d quality too. also tv out is a plus.

my budget has narrowed it down to these cards, and I was wondering what would be the best bang for the buck.
I'm looking to spend $150-$200 US

EDIT:
I should probably note that I am leaning toward nvidia because I'm familiar with them and have never had any problems. so, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
but I may be ready for a change.

Do not get the 9600 Pro its the MX line of ATI. Lose the 5200 Ultra and go for the 5600 Ultra. The best one for the price range is the 9500 Pro. Check at newegg for the prices.

I would stay away from the GF FX line. Overpriced, IMO.

The GF4 Ti-series is good. Definately the best in nVidia's line.

On the ATi side, definately the 9500. ;)

ATI, it is a much better card as ATI manufactures their own cards and holds their OEM builders to a high level of quality also. NVIDIA on the other hand is a chip maker who will sell chips to anybody, including you for the purpose of building cards. IMHO the quality of NVIDIA based cards varies widly by brand.

FX's suck.
Get the 9500pro, or the GF Ti4800 (or some models of the Ti4200 that do have 8x AGP).

I have a 9500 pro and it works great (check the sig) and in my other comp, that im selling I have a gF4 ti4200 which also works excellent both are great cards for the $$$ and will give you the performance you need for any game. btw the 9500 pro can be oc'd to a 9700 pro (almost) if you like to OC.

The 9500. Because of DX9 native support.

You are looking forward to Doom 3, ain't you? Then get the 9500 or the 9700Pro.

For Doom 3 the optimal recommendations are a FX5900 Ultra, FX 5800 Ultra and 9800 Pro. Go for the 9500 Pro.
