Is there some inherent limitation with a Lexmark 1000 Colorfine inkjet that makes it impossible to share it over a network?

The printer is connected to a new HP comptuer. I set it up for sharing. The second (older) computer printed directly to this printer without problem. But now that we've switched the printer to the new computer, the old computer always comes up with a 'KESTATMN' error whenever trying to print to the new computer that has the computer attached locally.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, etc several times. I have many other printers on the network shared with no problems--but not this one!

It might be a similar scenario to my old Lexmark 1020. I was told that it cannot be networked, but I don't like being told I can't do something. After a lot of messing around, I found that if I ran the spooler program for the Lexmark in the background of the machine that the printer was physically connected to, it would work. I'm sorry, but I don't remember the name of the file off hand, but if memory serves me correctly, it is in the windows directory and I think that the 1000 printer uses the same program as the 1020.
