I got the w32.jeefo virus yestarday and I have been trying to clean stuff up for 2 days now. I had norton antivirus and I ran a virus scan, quantined the files it recommended me to and deleted them. That didnt change anything. My hard-drive is still full because I guess this virus makes the files larger. I have 1.49 gb left on my computer, and this is after I have reformated. I thought if i reinstalled windows that would atleast take care of the virus, I have all my important files backed up on cd. I guess I was wrong. It did nothing. Hopefully someone can tell me how to fix this and get these files back to normal size so I can go on with my life. Thanks!

So, once you reformatted your HD, and reinstalled windows, the virus was still there, correct?

What OS are you using?

Follow these steps:

At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press Return. The registry editor opens.

Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup. On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup, save it to your Desktop or your My Documents Folder.

Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entries:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
PowerManager = "< full file path >"

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
PowerManager = "C:\< Windows >\SVCHOST.EXE"

and delete them.

Close the registry editor.

i believe i got the virus taken care of.....but my files are still huge. i tried reformating and that was the weirdest thing of it all. It didnt delete the files....they are still in the C drive when you go into my computer, but the reformat took them off of the desktop and start menu, cleared my favorites. the reformat seemed to delete some stuff, but not all of it. can someone please help!

Try locating the file that is taking up all this space... Open up explorer then right click on carpet by carpet and select properties (it should show the size) to find the file... After you find it try to delete it...

if your reformating the drive and it dosent remove the virus the next step is to remove the partition boot with a win98 boot disk make shore its virus free and use fdisk to deleat the partition then reboot and use fdisk to make a new partition and then format the drive and reinstall windows
