My son was on my computer and downloaded some viruses. I used Housecall and removed them but still have one small problem, that I can see at least. If I try and run msconfig or regedit they only run for a second then close. Here are the viruses that I had: troj wdialupd.a, bkdr litmus.203, reg seeker.1, reg seeker.c, reg startpage.a, js seeker. a . Anybody know what I need to do to correct the problem. Beside breaking my sons fingers.;)

More importantly, you got to get your computer from being surfed onto sites of questionable/illegal content. These virus' are usually rampant in such sites. Take a look at your browser history as well, and determine usage patterns as well; no point painstakingly sitting through this process only to have it repeated on you - and if you cant prevent it, then at least get a full time antivirus like PC-Cillin or Norton AV and keep it running all the time.

Thanks Statica but I already did all that and I still have the problem. I also found out that if I boot in safe mode I can open regedit and msconfig with no problem. Should also say I'm running 98se.

Its probably something that is getting started from your Run or RunServices key or the startup folder; have you checked for suspicious entries? How about disabling all of the entries (create a new folder called Run- and move all the registry entries in there).

Anybody know what VGA4R32.exe is? This ended up being the program that was causing my problem. Did a Google search and came up with just one hit and that was somebody else trying to find out what it is.

Find the file in Explorer, right click on it and select properties. What does it say in the version info?

edit: just searched my 98se for this file and I do not have it, could have been a virus. ... ?
