Hello everyone!

I am being attacked a few days ago with massive pop up windows. There is also a constant security warning asking me if I want to install something, to which I say no. It comes back all the time. Sometimes when I leave my computer alone and come back after a while, I find it full of opened windows.
I have pop up stopper program and it works good everywhere, but it doesn't stop this ones. It looks like they are different. I am suspecting of some kind of program that installed maliciously and is messing up with my pc.

I have Norton antivirus and performed full scan of the pc, plus I have ad-aware 6 and run it and cleaned all what it found.

I don't know what else to do.

Anybody have ideas?

Thanks...

uninstall any programs you don't know..
go to start-settings-control panel, add and remove programs

remove anything you don't recognize, or want on that list.

hope this helps.

Are you running the Windows Messenger service?

Try ad aware or something like that.

Yellohut...

It is nothing suspicious in my list...

Statica...

Yes, I am running MSN messenger, however it has been used for a long time with no issues. Could that be the problem now?

Monkeyblitch...

What is swatit and where can I find it?

Thanks people...

Is there any other idea?

I had the same problem tonight when I was cleaning up my daughter's laptop. Turns out, she downloaded a file swapping program like Kazaa and it must have included a few unwanted riders. I ran Spybot 3 times to clean it all out. Then I ran RegHealer to clean up the registry. Then defragged the hard drive. Made sure to delete all files and cookies from IE before running spybot. Popups are gone system restored. She had deleted PopUpStopper, but I put it back. (Darn kids! even when they reach college age, they won't always listen)

Are they the baise windows with the OK button? If you are on XP go to the Control Panel, then to administrative tools, then services, then go down to Messenger(select it and hit stop in the upperleft corner), then right click on it and change it to Disabled instead of automatic. I hope that helps.

another useful application is `hijackthis` (download.com is a good place to get it), some things that this app flags up are meant to be there so be careful as to what you delete, i managed to delete one of those annoying lop.com internetexplorer toolbars that neither spybot or anything else could remove!
