A7N8X Deluxe and ram.

I was using two PC 2700 sticks of ram to make up 1 gig. I used these in slot 1 and slot 3 so that it would use dual channel.
Yesterday, I bought 2 sticks of PC3200 sticks to make up 1 gig.
I removed the 2700 and fitted the 3200. The computer will not boot with the ram in slots 1 and 3.
The computer is fine with them in slots 1 and 2.
Either stick is ok by itself in slot 1, so the ram works ok.
I re- tried the 2700 in slots 1 and 3 and all was fine.
The 3200 will not work in dual channel configuration.
I have the 3200 in slots 1 and 2 now and all is well.

Does anyone know why the 3200 will not work in slots 1 and 3 for dual channel?

What type brand memory are you using for both the 2700 and 3200?

The board suppose to be very picky with memory so I here.

your mother will tell you which type of ram and which slot to put them in, double check that part.

also what mother board do you have

He has the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard.

Here is some information that may help from the manual for your particular motherboard. I would try the each of the sequences below with the two sticks PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory and see if any of the configurations will work.

To enhance system performance, utilize dual-channel feature when installing additional DIMMs. Install the DIMMs in any of the following sequence: Sockets 1 & 3 or Sockets 2 & 3 or Sockets 1, 2 & 3.

Buy the way, what is the brand of the PC3200 DDR SDRAM you have? Maybe the motherboard is picky and does not like the brand of memory you installed.

have you played with the bios at all. maybe the cas is set wrong for your memory. go in and set everything to default and try the 3200. i have mine in slots 1 & 3 and runs fine.

hey minsonngo, I have the asus a7n8x-x non deluxe and I'm using Buffalo brandf am and it seems to be working.
Any difference between the two boards in what ram is uses?

There isn't much of a difference except for the fact that the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard has the "Dual-Channel DDR" feature.

The bios recognises the ram at the correct speed etc.
Today (Saturday) I played Unreal Tournament over my home network. The computer crashed and re-started itself every two minutes.
I took out the 3200 ram and put in my PC2700 ram. I have been in the game for most of the day with no trouble whatsoever.
The ram must be faulty.

My supplier has replaced the Ram. I have just fitted it and it works fine.
