View Full Version : backup exec won't backup
I have everything set to overwrite the media, have tried labeling the tape, putting all tapes into scratch media section but after running and apparently backing up for 4 hours if spits the tape out and asks me to insert overwriteable media. Anyone know whats wrong?

Could be that the tape is full and/or has write protected files.
How large are the tapes and how much data is being backed up?

What do the logs say?
BE is a beast sometimes trying to get a successful backup. I f the logs don't contain anything helpful, try using a new backup tape.
I've got somewhere between 32 and 40 gb. Could it not be compressing the data? I'm using 150mm tapes.

Going back to the logs, which you can look at on the individual jobs.
They will give you the most useful info. Also what kind of tape drive (DAT, AIT, etc.) do you have?
You can also edit the registry to get rid of all of those Respond OK messages. Here's how (http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/192055.htm).
it appears the tape is full. Even though I have less than 40 gb on the hard drive it appears that I reached the point that it won't fit on one tape anymore. Thanks anyway for everyones help.
