HI
Have you tried using system restore?... or, you can remove both drives from Device Manager then reboot and see if XP will detect them again... let us know
:)

i have tryed sytem restore and it did nothing...
windows dectects it then reinstalls it but i get the same problem and it comes up with the ! next to it again.
it also gives this error by it
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Check the jumpers are properly set. The drive on the end of the cable must be master, the one in the middle must be set to slave.
You can also set both in CS if you are using an 80 wire IDE cable.
