Ad-aware?

When using Ad-aware, How do I know wich one to remove and which one should I keep?

I delete them all. As Prew mentioned, some programs rely on the adware to function correctly. If you remove one that does then reinstall the program and don't delete it the next time you run Adaware.

As Bailey stated, I delete everything Ad-aware finds, but if you do that with Spybot S&D you could find yourself repairing the registry or reinstalling some software.

Both AdAware and SpyBoy can backup what you remove, so if you do screw up you can usually put things right again.

Yes, and my famous "bud" has 2 machines so bogged down. I had him install/run Ad Aware and it found hundreds of entries. He deleted them and some stuff wouldn't work right, so he put the stuff back on, rather than isolating the problem. His list continues to grow...

There is no accounting for users.

I had one friend who had gator on his machine and it would hardly boot. I helped him download/install Roboform and Ad-aware, then romove Gator. Ad-aware removed all of the gator stuff, then his sex games that he was playing wouldn't work, so he replaced them from his backup and reinstalled gator.

I think too many folks get fooled by 3rd party software like Gator, Kazaa and all the others. I personally like to keep things plain and simple. If I can't remember all my passwords and such, I just make a notepad file and stash it somewhere.
I even put an extra letter in all my email addresses (and remove it before I send to them) to keep potential viruses from spreading...(the extra letter makes the addresses invalid).
But too many programs become so attractive when they are free or seem to make life easier...in the end they just complicate matters...who wants to wade tthrough 37 spams a day?
so ya, delete whatever Adaware finds...if you can't live without it, you'll find out soon enough. there's always fdisk.

I usually delete all but I too have a friend and he`s got so much junkware on his system it takes over 6 minutes to completely boot up,I had him run adaware,it booted in about 1 minute,but he chose to reinstall the junk files again and learns to live with an extremely slow machine.
