Can't Update From Windows Update

when I try the update for fix 819696, I get an error box with the title RUNDLL saying

"Error loading C:\DOCUME~1\user\Local

The specified module could not be found."

can anyone help me with this?

btw, this is on my brothers computer.

I think on some of the updates for windows you must be logged in as a computer administrator account,instead of a Guest,depends on the users account status, also before going to update clear out your internet cache or called temporary internet files.

Did you set yourself up as the administrator for your comp ?
I have XP Home and it's set-up so that I have both an administrator as well as a user account on it.

yeah I used the admin account

It looks like something's corrupted his install.
First try System Restore and if that won't do it you may need to do a repair install.

Try this trick.
Go to the Windows Update site as you usually do. When you get there, copy the address that appears in the browser's address bar. Click the Tools menu, then click Internet Options. Click on the Security tab. Click on the Trusted Sites and then click on the Sites button. In the Trusted Sites dialog box, paste the address into the Add this Web site to the zone text box. Remove the checkmark from the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox. Click the Add button. Click OK. Click OK again. Close the browser and return to the Windows Update site.

thanks it worked now. Now there's another problem, when trying to do update 821557, the computer automatically restarts. what could be the cause of this?
