NTFS vs fat 32

I am setting up WIN2k Pro and don't know if I should go
with the NTFS file system? I want to share the data created
on that computer at work with my home computer that
is running Win98. Can I transfer files back and forth?
I have the same programs on both computers. ie -
Word 2000 & Publisher 2000. So if I create a document
on the NTFS computer in Publisher can I take it home
and it will open in my Publisher version with fat 32?

I owuld go with Ntfs all my friends tell me its more stable adn all around better than fat 32. yes you will be able to open the file on a fat 32 partition

I used to not like NTFS but I will never go back to Fat32... I like being able to keep my files private. On Win2k and WinXP I haven’t noticed a difference in stability between Fat32 of NTFS.

There is no need to worry about not being able to share files between of ntfs or fat… Windows wont even notices the difference.

If you had both OS's on the same hard drive then and ONLY then would the two different file systems be an issue. Go ahead and use NTFS. It doesn't affect the stability of a system, but it will make use of hard drive space much more efficiently. I used to create files on my home Win 98 machine all the time and open them at work on Win 2000 machines with no problems. When I upgraded to Win XP I went with NTFS.
