I was installing XP Pro in a recent build (P4 @ 2.8 FSB 533, ShikaRAM PC2700 512MB, HD Western Digital 80GB and Intel mobo). I left it installing while I worked in another build and when I looked at it again the screen displayed the message:

Cannot start Windows.

[path]\ntfs.sys missing.

Boot from the CD and hit R...

Don't remember literally what it said.

I am thinking of deleting the partition and reinstalling. But I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem b4 and how did you fix it.

TIA

I think there actually is a fix for this on the M$ site. But if it were a clean install I would judt do it again. Less trouble and you'll know if it goes right.

But yeah I do believe I have had the same thing happen to me.

Hi Nuclear Krusader and Tuf :)

I've only done two XP builds (I still like to build with 98.2 ) but had no problems. I go along with Tuf and would just start over. Seems like it would be the quickest, easiest way...
