Just a heads up, we just moved into a Road Runner broadband area. We tried to re set up our network in the new digs and were unable to. I could use the cable modem straight to the NIC, as could another machine, but as soon as we tried the router there was major strangeness. Dropped connections and connectvity loss, At first we thought it was becasue the router sat on carpet in the sun and got overheated, I mean it was not that hot but....this was the only change made to the systems, so we tried a new router, new cables, new NIC.....
Finally we asked a service tech from Road Runner. Turns out that the combination of the BEF8SR1 router (Or the four port for that matter) Road Runner and AOL 8.0 did not mix.
Only when AOL was purged from the machines (and an uninstall did not do it- this was regedit and delete any AOL line) could we use the router.
Thought you would like to know
