Newbie Section?

Just wondering what the Moderators of PCMECH would think about adding a "Newbie" section to the forums here. While I realize that much of the forums content is "newbies" asking questions about this and that, it would be nice to have something like that. Someone who's new to the world of PC building might feel more comfortable with this type of enviornment, because it can be a bit intimidating to go into the other forums and have people talking about things that you don't have the faintest idea about.

Anyway, just a thought. Tell me what you think.

You asked for opinions; here's mine. Your statment that much of the forums content is "newbies" asking questions is totally accurate. That's how we all learn. I spent 3 months visiting here and just reading threads before I even signed up and began to post. I see by your profile you are still a young man. One of the qualities you can develop that will help you throughout adulthood is have the courage to ask intelligent questions. You've heard it before, I'm sure, "the only stupid question is the one you don't ask". People here seem driven by the desire to help bring others, newbies if you will, gain knowledge and expertese about computers. Guess that's a long answer and the conclusion is, no, we don't need a "newbie" section. Even the veterans will surely tell you, they learn new stuff all the time, some as the result of newbie questions. Besides, if you get a bunch of uninformed newbies together, how you gonna learn anything?

I definitely agree with you. As for the idea, I was thinking more along the lines of a forum where "newbies" could ask questions to more veteran builders and learn. However now that I think about it, I'm beginning to think that it is a rather dumb idea. Mainly because, as you said I am young and by no means consider myself an expert, and I am learning a lot by reading the questions and opinions in the other forums.
