new hd for IBM 330

:confused: I've got an old IBM 330 model 59T PC, that has a 1.9GB HD. The processor is an old Pentium 133MHz with 96 MB
RAM. I'm running win95, and just recently added a soundblaster 16 bit ISA sound card. The HD is an IDE with 40 pin connectors. My question is, what kind of small (ie: 10GB or <) HD can I add as a slave? Also, can I reformat and download
Win98 onto the old HD? Any advice is appreciated.:) thorlo6

your bios may have a limet to the size of hard drive you can install it is posable to use a drive overlay program from the hard drive manufacturs web site to use bigger drives but the best option if you have a free pci slot is to get a ide controla card and hard drive as it will be faster
also you cant download windows 98 you nead a windows 98 cd and licence to put 98 on the computer

I think he ment that he wanted to install Windows 98 not download it from the internet. I get confused sometimes when people say they want to download a program onto their computer when they want to install it from a CD.

Thanks Hi Ho, that's exactly what I meant. I've got a recovery CD with Win98 on it, apparently it also has BIOS on it as well, since I put a new 60GB HD in my primary PC and it was blank, as far as an OS goes. What I was wondering was what kind of HD could I get that IS compatible with the IBM 330 model 59T. Please be as specific as possible. I'm not as up on some of this stuff as you guys are. In order to install a larger hard drive without the use of a bios overlay (EZ-Bios, etc.) or a controller card, you have to determine what the bios limit is. I'm guessing 8 gigs. If you are prepared to use a controller card (such as a Promise ATA100 or 133) you can go as large as you want.
