Too much power?

As stated in a previous post I am going to buy a new case for my old computer. I bought this computer a long time ago, the time when I thought everything was inside the monitor, lol, so I am not sure what kind of PSU it has. I could check but I'm too lazy. This is the case I am planning on getting http://shop1.outpost.com/product/3452643. Since it is old I dont really care about the quality of the PSU just as long as it works. Is 350W too much for it? P3 750Mhz 256mb PC133 RAM the rest of the specs are the basics i guess.

Well, I can't get your link to work, so I can't tell you anything about that PS in that case. The size of the power supply doesn't make much difference really, as long as you have enough power to run everything in the case. Too little power and you have a problem. The motherboard and various drives will only use the amount they need so it won't hurt them to have a bigger power supply. About all it will do is run your electric bill up a few extra cents having a bigger supply. But yeah, 300W to 350W would be fine for most systems.

I dont think you ever get TOO MUCH power. Its always the other way around. 350 watts is definately a good amount to have in case you would like to upgrade some components later on. But if your just looking to run those components and not looking to upgrade in the near future you could run specs like that with 200 watts and less.

I have an 3 year old hp pc sitting in the corner with a 100 watt psu in it and its specs are like 800mhz celeron, 768mb SDRAM, and a GeForce 2 mx 440 and i ran it like crazy when i first got it and never experienced problems with the psu.

Right now that old comp has a 100W PSU but I just didnt want to over do it. I guess ill use that 350W PSU by Antec for my old comp.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my first post....no, more power won't hurt the system, it'll use what it needs and the rest will just be unused. As I said, I couldn't get the link to work, but if that power supply is a 350W Antec, that would be a great one to use. Antec makes good supplies.

For a 750MHz PIII, a good quality 250 or 300 watt power supply would be more than enough to power the system.

As long as that 350 watt PSU is a good quality one, it should power the system easily. It won't "over-power" or provide too much power to the system...the system will just take what it needs as the others have stated.
