Everyone is always talking about them being safe with a router and not needing a firewall. Does a router acctualy protect me? I use the linksys router.

Yes as long as you have the block wan request enabled on that filters page..It;s not that it is fool proof but it is prety good. Blocking unused ports also helps...

Thanks, ill still use a firewall to be safe but now I know that I dont need that much more protection. My NIS 2002 should be all I need then.

key to this is that you use it the right way. dont use dmz host, only open the ports you need open. also make sure you have it block ping, and do not allow router config to be open from the interenet. always get the latest firmware and you should be fine. :)

A pw is a good idea for router setup too.
