I want to repartition my hard drive ifrom a single partion to three. I am looking for a good way to do this non-destructivly and with a free software program. What software should I use and will this allow me to add linux to another partion with out having to repartion with the linux installer which would erase my data?
Thanks in advance for you help.

Maybe someone else can address the free aspect. However, if you do need to buy something, I can recommend Partition Magic. Just did 3 active systems with it and never harmed any data. It also comes with Boot Magic which is also good. You can find it from several web stores for $25 to $30.

I've never used this myself but it's free.

I have had problems with Partition Magic before. I have had the same kinds of problems with Linux.
After I have installed both of these my hard drives started getting bad sectors. I wont install either of those on my system because of it. This has happened more than once. I have new 120 gb drives and don't want them messed up.

I've used Partition Magic for several years and have done a lot of partitioning on several differnt drives with no problems of any kind.

Now with partitioning, let's say a partition on two (WinXP Pro and Redhat Linux). Would you load Linux first, then get Partition magic running, or would you run XP pro first, then install partition magic?

Is there a way to partition without a partition software of some sort? (I'm thinking XP pro and Redhat Linux)
Thanks - kram

What exactly do you mean? Are you talking about partitioning without installing Windows or Linux?

Well, you know how there are those partition softwares (like Partition magic) that do all the stuff for you? I'm wondering if there is a way you can do it manually and yes, with the CDs or WinXP and RHLinux
No Windows XP does not include partition software, dunno about Red Hat.
