View Full Version : how do i make my DVD player region free??

Hi,

i have a samsung CDRW/DVD SN324B combo drive on my laptop and i want to make it region free. How do i go about doing this?

Its a Dell Inspiron running XP. Its set to region 2 cos i bought it in europe, but i'm living in asia (Korea) and so DVD's i buy/rent here wont work.

You should be able to change the region - but only up to 5 times - and after the fifth time, the region is permanently fixed. Unless you re-flash your firmware.

You should be able to access the DVD region settings by going to the Properties of your DVD drive in Device Manager.

If your DVD drive doesn't have the Region Settings built-in, then you should be able to activate it thro your DVD software. Like DVD drives, the software only allows up to five changes before the DVD region is made permanent.

what are the differnt regions....like europe asia.....

You can use a program such as AnyDVD which will basically make your DVD drive "REGION FREE".

care on the above reply. According to the website:

"System Requirements
IBM compatible personal computer with a 500 MHz Pentium and 64 MB RAM
Windows 2000 or Windows XP (Win 95/98/ME are not supported)
Harddisk space needed: 1 MB"
