I am thinking about doing something to make my monitor look better. I think that it'd be neat to put LEDs in all of my buttons, and maybe rig up a cold cathode or two so that my monitor case glows.. Does anyone have any good sites about hooking up LED's ?? Blinking would be cool too i think.

Start by checking out some of the sites mentioned here:

Be very careful, even with the montor fully unplugged it is still possible to get a surge that could kill you.

Metku.net has alot of good articles dealing with led's
A good place to get cheap led's is at case-mod.com
I dont know how you would do a cold cathode, unless you put another transformer inside, because i doubt any part of it runs on 12v dc....
As avx said, monitors can be deadly, so be very very careful.

Being deadly is the most fun part. You can't say that you have truly lived unless you have taken those kind of chances, but thanks for the help, i will be careful.. I definitely dont plan on messing with any part of the actual monitor hardware itself, i plan on rigging up some sort of radio shack dealie, with it's own power supply and everything..

You can easily get 12v by running a wire from your computer or a wall wart. Then you can add a standard inverter for your cold cathod. If you're messing with your monitor already, you might put in a quiet cooling fan. It might prolong your monitor's life a bit.
