2 OS's...how do i delete one?

ok...i had to reinstall XP on my comp and it now has 2 OS's that i have to choose between each time i boot up...how do i delete one of these?

I'm assuming this is one HD, correct? Although it shouldn't matter.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Admin tools>Computer Management>Disk management> right-click on which ever partition>Delete one of the partitions with an OS on it.

NOTE: I have two HDs and several partitions, but only ONE (C:\) with an OS---it does NOT give me an option to delete it. However, I can delete any of the others. So, I am assuming that with two OS it will allow you to delete one of them.

If the drive/OS that you want to delete is C:\ then try changing its drive letter to something else (say D:\)--renaming the new OS drive to C:\, and then maybe it will let you delete the OS that you want (D:\?)

You also have to consider that Your new OS is not on the outward side of the disk, so that will slow things down.

If there are two XP installations on a single partition, you can't do that. I'd back up your data and wipe the drive and start from scratch for the best results. However, you can "hide" the second install (make it so the boot menu doesn't come up) by editing the boot.ini or choosing one as the default (note VERY carefully which one works) in your startup and recovery options and uncheck "display list". In 2K this is in control panel, system, advanced, I dont have an XP box to check.
