SPECS:
Operating system: Win XP Pro
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-7VAXP
Processor: AMD XP 2500+
Memory: 1536MB Crucial
Graphic Card: ATI Radeon 9700 PRO (latest drivers installed)
Soundcard: Audigy 2
Hard Drives: Maxtor 6YO80PO and 6YO60LO
CD rom: Kenwood 72X Speed
CD/RW: Plextor PX_W4824A
2WIRE modem
DIRECTX 9.0b version
…How I have noticed that my new PC has a problem!
After using the PC for about 3 moths without any major issues a specific problem started to come up more often. After downloading two new demos (TRON 2.0 and XIII) neither of them would run and I would get two different error and warning messages.
One would be referring to direct input and the other one would be about memory reference problem (Listed below).
After opening “dxdiag” now I get a new window with a message, that the last time direct input was accessed there was a problem and it gives me an option to bypass it. If I bypass it, I can use the dx tool but if I don’t it crashes and gives me an error.
I also tried “Planet side” among other applications and same thing happens either the memory reference or direct input fails to get the application running. Couple of times the PC restarted on it’s own with out any reason. I run other app's with out problems (Ravenshiled, Photoshop etc.)
…What I have done!
Updated everything, reinstalled 9.0b directx. Tried out the individual 512 bars of memory but the problem remains with all of them.
I really don’t know what to do but I just want to fix this and what the hack is directinput?
