Best Mouse for gaming?

Any good mice for gaming out there? Optical mice are apparently more accurate, but also do this shaky recalibration thing when lifted from the pad and set back on it which can be incredibly annoying during fast-paced gaming. This makes me lean towards ball mice, but if some newer opticals have come out that correct this problem, I’d definitely be willing to consider them.

I don’t want to spend too much on a mouse, just need something sturdy and reliable that is great for gaming.

i had a kensington programmable optical that worked pretty well for about 18 months, then it would occasionally freeze up, i would have to restart, i'm not sure if it was crap, or i was too rough on it, but it happened more and more till finally one day in the middle of a wicked firefight, it froze, and i was forced to destroy it!

Logitech MX500 or MX700 (wireless). They are the same mouse, one is just cordless. The MX700 is also amazingly fast, and probably one of the only cordless that I would use for gaming.

If you don't want an optical, look around for a Boomslang. You will probably have to go to Ebay for one of those.

My MX700 far exceeded my expectations and doesn't have the recal symptom you mention.

(I've heard good things about the Boomslang, including rumor that they are back in biz... ???)

There's quite a few Boomslangs on Ebay - all 3 models (1000, 2000, 2100) from $22.50 to $89 buy it now, plus shipping.

Some of the wireless optical can be somewhat heavy (batteries) and may die during game (batteries again). I have a black IBM mouse that is optical and very light that seems to work well. I previously had a logitech wireless, it simply died on me.

The Logitech MX700 is good on it's rechargable batteries. I normally have to charge it up only once a week for my usage. And, it will run for hours even when the red "charge me" light starts blinking. Don't know about any earlier revs, as this is my first cordless.

I have the cordless MX700, its good, but sometimes when i restart I have to replug it in for it to work, this is only if I use the drivers though.

I've got This one (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=1&submit=Go&description=Logitech%2CWheel%2CMouse%2COptical%2CBlue) , bought for 20 or 25 bucks from CompUSA. I've only had it for about 2 months but it works beautifully on the couch cushion or the carpet. I think it had 3 year warranty too, but can't promise since I threw out the package it came in.

Well, I MoHaa and UT2003 each and every weekend night late and am using the Logitech Optical Cordless Mouseman with NO problems or complaints.

Although, now that I've gone back and read about the Boomslang, I sure would like to get ahold of one of those! Anybody trying to get rid of one? :)
