Ok, I've still got video problems.

When I boot up the system, it recognizes the FX5200 Ultra on the top of the screen, then it goes into BIOS, then it does a RAID and IDE check, then it loads Win98SE.

It is using a Standard PCI VGA Adapter, and I can't seem to switch it to use my AGP slot! It doesn't seem to recognize anything, and I can't figure out how to get the AGP card to work!

Now, the video is being run through the FX5200U, and there's no other onboard graphics card (865PE chipset).

I've got the drivers for the 865PE chipset loaded, the Intel AGP drivers show up and when I test the device it comes back as working properly and there aren't any conflicts listed anywhere.

I've checked the BIOS and can't see anything that needs to be or can be changed to fix the problem.

How is the computer thinking that its using a PCI VGA Adapter when I don't have one? How do I turn that off and turn on the AGP adapter?

I've removed and reinstalled the card hoping that windows would recognize it as a new device, but to no avail.

Help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

GA8PENXP mobo by the way.

Have you installed drivers for the video card?

No, I can't install the drivers. When I attempt to do so, the driver install program tells me that I don't have any devices that require any of the available drivers!

I switched my Bios from PCI to AGP as primary device and that still didn't work.

Any other thoughts? Help please!

I'm using the computer in question right now.

I've got WINXP loaded, it's run at 32bit graphics, but it still won't recognize my AGP card, and my drivers still will not load!

I've got the following error message when looking at the VGA adapter:

(These are memory conflicts)

Input/Output range 0380_03bb used by:
PCI standard PCI to PCI bridge
Input/Output range 03c0 - 03DF used by:
PCI Standard PCI to PCI bridge
Memroy range 000A0000 - 000BFFFF used by:
PCI Standard PCI to PCI Bridge

How do I fix this?

Can I disable the PCI to PCI bridge? Do I need it? Whats up?

Please.. Please.. Please Help! My FX5200U just doesn't work! (Although somehow the system recognizes the fact that I've got 32 bit graphics.. now that I've upgraded to XP!)

I would clear CMOS as a beginning and see what happens then.
Are you overclocking ?

I'm not overclocking. I haven't done anything at all yet with the computer, I was trying to just get it up and running before I started overclocking the thing.

As it stands, I can't even get it up and running!

Clear the CMOS? Why? What could have gone wrong with the CMOS to make it regonize the card upon cold boot, recognize the 32bit processing in windows, yet not recongize the AGP slot and believe it's a PCI card, PLUS give me those memory errors?

eh?

What could have happened to make that happen? I'd really love to know so I can avoid it in the future.

For example: What do those memory messages mean? I've got absolutely no idea. Obviously, they are telling us what the problem is.. but I don't know what they mean.

Do you? Does anybody? Somebody has to know somewhere right?

What is it that messages say that tells me that I need to clear my CMOS?

Thanks.

Okay, you sound like a guy who needs to check the memory.
It ain't doing what is should.
The clear CMOS suggestion would have returned it to factory default. If it hadn't booted from there hardware, like memory, would have been plainly implicated.
It's one of those things that lets long-distance diagnosers know what's going on.

Are you positive that you have properly installed the Intel chipset utility?
