If you want to practice domain administration, install one machine as PDC (Primary Domain controller running NT Server), the other one as client (NT Workstation.)
In a domain with a lot of pc's you want a BDC (Backup domain controller running NT Server) for failover when the PDC is crashed or under a heavy load.

As mosquito mentioned BDC is for backup and you can promote it to PDC if PDC is down. So NT server on one computer and NT WKS on other.
